About the Festival

Festival of pianoforte music in memoriam of French pianist Vera Lotar-Shevchenko is organized on by initiative of the First Russia President Boris Yeltsin Fund in 2005 in Novosibirsk.

The alumnus of a prominent French pianist Alfred Cortot, soloist of Novosibirsk state Philarmony and unique strong person embodied in her creative development the winged words of her teacher: "… for life awaking behind frozen text notes you must inspire in this notes your own life".

23 years after her death in Novosibirsk Philarmony the music Vera Augustovna had liked to perform by herself rang: Bach, Chopin, Brahms, Prokofiev, Debussy, List, Schubert, Skryabin.

The compositions of great composers were performed by famous pianists: Natalia Taldykina (Novosibirsk), Philip Kopachevsky (Moscow), Konstantin Lapshin (Moscow), Alexander Mel’nikov (Moscow), David Frei (France). The festival success had no doubts. The necessity of it's organization was either timely.

Legendary pianist, the memory of whose play is saved only on vinyl records of the "Krugozor" magazine, opened the way for music talents and abilities by now in new century. The festival laid the foundations of the International pianist contest in memoriam of Vera Lotar-Shevchenko. Henceforward
