About the Contest

The International pianist contest in memoriam of Vera Lotar-Shevchenko was organized on by initiative of the First Russia President Boris Yeltsin Fund in 2006 and art workers of Russia and France.

The fate of a pianist, the contest was named about, is extraordinaire. Thanks to huge strength of mind only after long and tragic years of silence, the legendary performer returned into the music.

“In the name of esprit, but contrary a letter" – that was how talking about the manner of a teacher of Vera Lotar-Shevchenko, a prominent pianist Alfred Cortot. And in the name of spirit and professional mights strengthening of the pianists of XXI century the contest is hold, where beginners and famous musicians can take part.

Like any other music contest, the contest in memoriam of Vera Lotar-Shevchenko is a huge as to it’s strength creative space. By participating in it the young talents take their free pass. Talent musicians find the experience of strength of mind forming in the fight for recognition.

And who will become the winner can be known in the end of the contest, the start of which was given by the festival in memoriam of Vera Lotar-Shevchenko, hold in 2005.

The contest is hold biyearly, in Novosibirsk, - city, where Vera Lotar-Shevchenko lived for the last 16 years of her creative life.
